Encounter and Lorebook update
This update refines encounter choices, improves the Lorebook, gives the Buried Cache its own battlefield, and removes unused code and artwork.
The Buried Cache
- A dedicated wet-crossroads battlefield. The approach, fight and aftermath now share the same roads, vegetation and fallen patrol.
- Normal Act II elite scaling. The optional Scryer fight uses the current floor’s elite budget instead of the larger Layline swarm setup.
- More natural arrivals. Feeding Scryers wake, walk onto the road and join the attack. Reinforcements enter through the woodland openings.
- Clearer deployment. Both routes pass around the chest, which also blocks Tower placement. Roadside brush marks positions within Razorback reach.
- Scryers have a smaller, consistent scale across their movement, feeding, attacks and death poses. The Layline prototype also gains roadside placements.
- Escaping the Cache fight clears its pending victory rewards.
A Crooked Crone: Last Sip
- A new timber stall presents three poison cards on familiar merchant stands.
- The roster, carried items, Lorebook and Satchel remain available through the shared shop footer, including at the mystery shelf.
- The shelf has fewer labels and controls, keeping attention on the bottles.
- The Alchemical Station is no longer sold here. Stations already held in existing runs remain supported.
Easier encounter choices
- The Magic Stones and Glimpse of the Past share a larger Power picker with one clear permanent-loss warning, right-click inspection, scrolling and Hide/return access to the party. Back cancels without spending a Power.
- The Magic Stones puzzle has smaller, closer pedestals, more forgiving grab and drop areas, and pebbles that stay under the point where you grabbed them. The Baron remains in place during the offer and departure.
- Capn Back Marrow’s crew picker is more compact. Right-click opens inspection without a separate Inspect button beneath every card.
- The Gorvells’ feast shows Hide when choosing a Tower, reducing extra controls during dialogue.
- Selected offering cards retain a visible outline above their artwork.
Lorebook and Chronicle
- Shared Chronicle continuations appear once, with converging routes joining the same branch while retaining recorded discoveries.
- Elite and boss pages use region browsing, with larger two-column entries and the correct Act II region names.
- Live Act I and Act II subzone leaders are included in the Elite shelf.
- Consumable names fit more neatly in collection slots and item dossiers.
- Gorvells story consequences use clearer Chronicle wording.
Presentation and navigation
- Water Rings throws move more smoothly, with continuous return arcs and spinning discs through the catch.
- The Vorpus map layers the Keingroves in front of Old Fenar correctly. Hover selection follows the visible forest, and overlap edges lose their pale halos.
- Locked clan rosters use an undiscovered symbol and clearer locked hints.
- The Armory has a consistent Leave Armory button, including during its greeting. Biandiana’s roadside Leave button sits beside the gold display.
- Removed redundant narration from selected story scenes and boss aftermaths, and trimmed two defeat-dialogue entries.
Cleanup
- Removed 17 unused scripts, three obsolete shaders, unused menu art, generated cache files and Finder metadata.
- Archived and removed 15 unused encounter outcome illustrations and their import files, taking 38.05 MiB of artwork out of the active asset tree.
- All three approved cleanup groups total 85 removed files. Current encounters, required source art, historical prompts and shared Scene/Camp assets remain available.
